Job Purpose & Responsibilities Job Purpose:
Leads and/or supports R&D technology projects to create new product offerings from SABIC Specialties. Plays a key role in developing technology roadmaps linked to business units growth strategies and provides subject matter expertise related to new process platform technology. Develops and improves processes to solve problems for value creation and provides growth to SABIC Specialties. Communicates with internal stakeholders and engages externally to find unmet / anticipated customer and industry needs.Leads and/or supports R&D technology projects to create new product offerings from SABIC Specialties. Plays a key role in developing technology roadmaps linked to business units growth strategies and provides subject matter expertise related to new process platform technology. Develops and improves processes to solve problems for value creation and provides growth to SABIC Specialties. Communicates with internal stakeholders and engages externally to find unmet / anticipated customer and industry needs. Contributes to IP strategy development per business units strategies and technology roadmaps with Legal, IP leader, and IP coordinator and documents work results / findings in a timely manner. Actively coaches other technologists.
Executes research projects and technical resolution cases for business units in SABIC Specialties; projects could be complex and could require cross-functional collaborations (50% of time)
Leads and/or supports projects to develop and commercialize new products / offerings by satisfying customer needs
Provides technical leadership to continuous improvements in processes that support existing commercial products
Fosters discovery-based platform technology development through experimentation and prototyping (40% of time)
Engages internally and externally to identify platform opportunity in Specialties
Shares ideas and collaborates with cross-technology groups to create and advance new platform process technologies
Regularly documents research findings in memo reports / external articles and presents technical papers in regional or international conferences / meetings; may chair conferences (5% of time)
Helps develop IP strategy to support business strategy and differentiate from competition (5% of time)

SABIC Internal T&I Employees at grades 15 will be considered for this job. If T&I employee is selected for the role he/she will maintain his/her current grade and will be assigned work commensurate with their current grade.
External Hires and Non T&I SABIC employees will be placed on the SABIC Technical Career Ladder depending on experience level, degree and proven technical knowledge; and will be assigned work commensurate with that grade.
Strong Chemical Engineering background with BS in Chemical Engineering required.
Minimum of 8+ years relevant experience in related field, with a PhD preferred (or greater number of years of experience with lesser degree of education)
Six Sigma Green Belt certification required; Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred
