Job Purpose & Responsibilities Job Purpose:
You will be monitoring and forecasting markets to facilitate decision making in product price setting and investment planning. You will be a member of the Petrochemicals SBUs market intelligence team where together with colleagues in other regions you will have responsibility for SABICs intelligence activities for engineering thermoplastics.
Monitor and report market trends and competitive activity to ensure that threats and opportunities for SABICs business are highlighted and understood by business unit leadership.
Where requested carry out market and value chain studies using this data but equally importantly be self-starting in identifying and reporting on the trends and disruptors of which the business leadership needs to be aware.
Support the management teams of the SBU, business unit and the business strategy with market data and analysis plus conclusions required to support management reviews and strategic decisions.
Produce regular market, competitive and value chain reports used for business decision making.
Seek out, develop where otherwise unavailable the databases of product demand, competitor capacity and costs and product trade all of which form the basis for high quality, data driven and defendable analysis and reporting.
Develop and gain business unit buy-in and leadership approval for product price forecasts.
Price forecasts include short-term used to set sales price targets, through business plan time horizon used in forecasting business profits and valuing improvement projects to very long-term price forecast used for major investment decisions.
Work with colleagues engaged in similar activity for other areas of SABICs Petrochemicals product range to ensure that the SBU has a fully aligned view of all markets in which we operate through from primary energy such as oil, and coal, through feedstock, monomers and all polymers.
Bachelor degree in engineering or business, Chemical engineering or marketing backgrounds will be preferred. MBA or a similar level qualification is beneficial.
Minimum five years experience in petrochemicals environment, ideally with commercial experience
Analytical thinking; Effective Collaboration; Global Outlook; Influencing and Communication for Impact; Project Management
Demonstration of leadership competencies such as: Strategic Focus; Planning and Organizing; Drive for Results, Personal Leadership
Mathematical skills and analysis techniques are an essential requirement as this role involves statistical analysis; six-sigma green-belt level would be suitable.
